1. Loading Weight Requirements
Regulations:
6-wheel truck: Total weight not exceeding 15 tons (15,000 kilograms)
10-wheel truck: Total weight not exceeding 25 tons (25,000 kilograms)
12-wheel truck: Total weight not exceeding 30 tons (30,000 kilograms)
18-wheel trailer: Total weight not exceeding 47 tons (47,000 kilograms)
20, 22, 24-wheel trailer: Total weight not exceeding 50.5 tons (50,500 kilograms)
Penalties:
Fine not exceeding 50,000 Baht.
In case of exceeding weight by more than 20%: Fine an additional 1,000 Baht per kilogram.
2. Truck Running Restrictions
Regulations:
On Highways:
6-wheel trucks and above: Prohibited from 06:00 – 09:00 and 16:00 – 20:00, except on public holidays.
10-wheel trucks and above: Prohibited from 06:00 – 10:00 and 15:00 – 21:00, except on public holidays.
Gas tanker trucks and flammable materials trucks (6-wheel and above), and trailers: Prohibited from 06:00 – 22:00 every day, except Sundays.
Other trucks, such as those carrying logs or piles: Prohibited from 06:00 – 21:00.
On Expressways:
6-wheel trucks and above: Prohibited from 06:00 – 09:00 and 16:00 – 20:00.
10-wheel trucks and above: Prohibited from 06:00 – 09:00 and 15:00 – 21:00.
Chemical transport trucks: Prohibited from 06:00 – 10:00 and 15:00 – 22:00.
Penalties:
Fine not exceeding 50,000 Baht.
Suspension of vehicle use until it complies with the specified running time regulations.
3. Safety Standards
Regulations:
Install ABS brake system.
Provide airbags for the driver.
Install front and rear cameras.
6-10 wheel trucks must have reflective devices.
Penalties:
Fine not exceeding 50,000 Baht.
Suspension of vehicle registration until improvements are made to meet the standards.
4. Pollution Control
Regulations:
New trucks must meet Euro 5 exhaust standards.
Old trucks must undergo annual inspection and have pollution levels within the prescribed limits.
Penalties:
Fine not exceeding 100,000 Baht.
Suspension of vehicle use until improvements are made to meet the standards.
5. Vehicle Tracking System (GPS)
Regulations:
All trucks must install a GPS system connected to a control center.
Travel data must be stored for at least 6 months.
Penalties:
Fine not exceeding 50,000 Baht.
Suspension of vehicle registration until the GPS system is installed.
